Spam Service Outage 3 Hours 3/24 (NO MAIL LOS (Resolved)

  • The main data center where our Spam Service is located had a problem
    overnight the night of 3/24 starting at 11:30 PM The problem was
    resolved 3/25/2014 at 2:30 AM and is operating normally.

    [From the Can-It Spam service provider:] A software malfunction caused a storm of multicast traffic which
    activated the data center's DDoS protection mechanism and
    shut down our network connectivity as a precaution.

    We have identified the culprits and disabled them.
    During the downtime, the system was placed in tag-only mode 
    to ensure mail would be delivered. Therefore, you may have more
    than the usual amount of spam in your inboxes, though most
    of it should be tagged as such.

Comcast/Verizon/AT&T blocking redirection (Resolved)

  • Comcast, Verizon and several other ISPs are blocking the redirection servers of eNom, Inc., the TLD (top level domain) registrar for domains registered with FPO Hosting.  eNom engineers are working with ISPs to resolve the issue, likely caused by an automated process.  For customers with domain-level redirection, expect some intermittant service.

    This issue DOES NOT AFFECT FPO Hosting customers having a domain with a hosted website directly on FPO Hosting servers.

Anti-Spam Server Upgrade (Resolved)

  • On Saturday, 1 February 2014 between 18:00 and 21:00 Eastern time (23:00 and 02:00 UTC)
    an upgrade will be applied to the FPO Hosting Anti-Spam System.

    There will be brief period of downtime totalling about 4 to 7 minutes during the upgrade window.

    During the downtime, mail will be queued and the web interface (http://spam.fpohosting.com) will not be available.
    Email will be delivered and the web interface available as soon as the maintenance is complete.

Server Migration Completed 10/14/2013 (Resolved)

  • On Monday, October 14, 2013 we completed a Server Transition for all accounts on server starfire
    to a new, faster server during the early morning hours.

    This transition will allow us to add increased capacity and speed for existing and future customers.

    Some customers are reporting duplicate mail downloads via accounts using IMAP and this is normal in
    most
    mail readers (Outlook, Thunderbird) because all mail message files were copied to a newer,
    faster server
    and the mail client sees each message file as a new (ie: previously not downloaded)
    file/message.

    Resolution: Delete the duplicate messages.
    We apologize for any inconvenience. The server migration was necessary to improve the speed
    and capacity of our services.

    We are in the process of upgrading our Hosted CanIt software between 18:00 and 21:00 Eastern daylight time; that's 22:00-01:00 UTC.

    The upgrade will require an interruption in mail delivery and web portal access.  However, we anticipate at most a few minutes of downtime during the maintenance window.

    Mail should queue at your sender's mail server and will be delivered when the sending mail server re-tries after the maintenance is complete.

  • The FPO Hosting Anti-Spam service is receiving an upgrade now through midnight Eastern Time.


    For some or all of the pre-announced maintenance window, the FPO Hosting Anti-Spam web interface will be unavailable and mail delivery will be suspended.  Mail will be queued on the sending servers; no mail will be lost.

    We apologize for the inconvenience. This upgrade will increase the system's capacity and improve performance in the long run.

  • FPO Hosting is implementing a new Client Support, Billing and Account Management portal called FPO Hosting MyAccount.  The online ordering & billing section of the new "MyAccount" system is not fully live yet, but you are welcome to look around and see what it will be able to do in the future.   Today, you can set up an account and use the Support Request features to open a support request anytime.  Only the ability to order and view your products and services are offline - that part will come later.  We are planning to go fully live with the online products and billing part of the new system by Summer, 2013.
